Problem with overheating alarm now solved!
After a couple of months of frustration with the issue of the engine overheating alarm, my BMW dealer has finally found the problem with the help of BMW Belgium and resolved it.
The problem appeared on longer (fast) rides on the motorway.
The issue was related to a small hose connected to the oil pump system which had reduced throughput. For some reason, the hose was narrowed and obstructed the flow of oil, causing the engine to overheat.
I am happy the problem wasfound and is solved, but I wonder if this will have any impact in the longer term.
I have also experienced a stalling issue. For some reason, after I got my bike back from the dealer, the fuel ank gauge got out of step. i still saw three bars on the dashboard, but the tank was compeletely dry. I got towed from the motorway to the nearest gas sation and filled with more than 15 liter...
BMW Belgium have told me that the problem is known and the engineers in Munich are working to find a solution. This will involve a recall.
